thingstodofukuoka.com exists to resolve one Fukuoka or Kyushu decision per page and commit to an answer. Every verdict starts from the same place: the real yen price, the exact train or subway that reaches it, the hour of day that changes the experience, and whether a paid tour beats simply turning up.

Where a tour only sells a driver and a narration for something that is free to enter or a five-minute subway away, we say so. Where it genuinely unlocks a place — a Takachiho gorge that public transport reaches badly, a yatai crawl that solves the cash-only, no-reservations, no-English failure modes — we say that too.

If you want a ranked “top 20 things to do” list with no verdict attached, this is the wrong site — every page here commits to an answer, which means it will sometimes tell you to skip something you were looking forward to. The Fukuoka Tourist City Pass page is a straight ‘skip’, and we show the arithmetic rather than soften it.

It is also not a live booking engine. Prices move, ticket windows change, ferries and trains re-time, and after the July 2026 Kumamoto earthquake some southern Kyushu routes are still shifting. We date every page and re-check monthly, but the provider’s own page is always the final word on price and availability on the day you travel.

Prices are collected from operators’ own published rates and posted fares. Where a rating or review count appears on a booking card it belongs to the provider named on that card — GetYourGuide, TripAdvisor or Booking.com — and is never our own score. This site publishes no aggregate rating of its own and adds none to its structured data.

Where a fact is genuinely disputed or moving — which southern Kyushu lines are running after the earthquake, whether a seasonal wisteria or oyster window is open — we date it and say it is provisional rather than pick the answer that reads more cleanly. That is a deliberate limit, not an omission.
